Dawdle.
A word game with no rush. Pick four to seven letters, then find the word in five goes. Each guess checks itself as soon as the last letter goes in.

Dawdle isn’t our idea. It’s based on Wordle, the word game Josh Wardle made in 2021 (now published by The New York Times), and it’s here to show what a game built in plain JavaScript can do in a browser.
What it shows
- Runs entirely in the browser: no server, no sign-in, no app
- Tiles that flip in 3D and act out each result, all in CSS
- Sound synthesised as you play with the Web Audio API, no audio files
- Physical keyboard and touch, with every guess checked as it lands
- Word lists that load only for the length you pick
- Streaks kept on your device with localStorage
- Reduced-motion support and a screen-reader label for every row
